Hi everyone! Let’s get this thing started then, shall we!
Well I’ve been in Sydney now for 2 months, and something that I’ve come to realize is, not only is the Opera House fairly overrated; but that it is WAY colder here than previously expected!

- Jumper- £5 Charity Shop
- Dress- £12 Primark
- Booties- £2 Car Boot Sale
- Bandanna- £2.50 Market
As i said, it has been so cold in Sydney these past few weeks! its only been cold in the shade though, which poses a problem of how to dress. i decided the best way to tackle this would be to wear a summer dress and a chunky knit jumper. The difference in textures not only helps with temperamental weather; but also looks rather dandy; don’t you think?
Floaty dresses are not hard to come by, finding a nice, but also cheap, jumper is slightly trickier. Urban Outfitters and Topshop are full to the brim of lovely cable knit jumpers that are crazy soft, but also crazy expensive. if you can afford to buy one, good on you! go for it! if not though, i would suggest looking in charity shops for some chunky bargains!
The best suggestion i can give is to trawl the mens sections in charity shops, as it is mnore often than not GUARANTEED that there’ll be some tasty jumpers lying about. One also imperative suggestion that i can give (and it really does work), is find charity shops in areas that are a bit more up market; but also areas that don’t have many young people. Young people have discovered the value of charity shops in recent years, so it’s now harder to snap up those good bargains. A place like Bristol, for instance, is full of fashionable hipsters looking to snap up a bargain; so not only is the stock limited, but also the prices have been raised too. It’s hard to suggest places that are accessible to everyone, but if you know a quiet little area which is not rife with youngsters, trawl those charity shops to your hearts content! it’ll pay off, i promise you!
happy traipsing, Lucy xx
Well hey everyone! I wouldn’t blame you for forgetting who i am or what i do; i have been AWOL for a good few months!
If there’s any hint of an excuse, it’s that I’ve been traveling for the past couple of months; so not only is it hard to get online, but, even more horrifying, i haven’t been able to bring my whole wardrobe with me! *gasp*
I’ll try my hardest to still have nice clothes even in my present backpacker condition; the last thing i want to do is disappoint any of you!
————————————————————————————————————————
I wanted to start this comeback with the biggest change that’s happened to my appearance in probably the past 5 years! I’ve taken the plunge and cut my hair in a pixie style cut; mainly because the harsh Australian sun had ruined my precious locks, but also to emulate lovely people like this:

I would really advise thinking hard about cutting your hair this short! It’s quite severe and definatly would take a long time to grow out. The first thing you need to take into account is your face shape. A cut like this will really suit someone with a heart shaped face, or also with an oval face. I would probably avoid this hairstyle if you have a round face, mainly at the risk of looking a bit butch or, worst of all, looking like this:

If you do take the plunge, good on you! but if you, like me, are worried about making the haircut look feminine, then my best tip would be to compliment your hair with some seriously dramatic sixties eyes!

Whilst it’s hard for me to write some tips on how to do sixties makeup in a comprehensible and easy way, i have found a few youtube links that are really helpful, and easy to follow:
I would really recommend the last two. they are the ones i used to perfect my eyes.
Have some groovy times everyone! Lucy xx
sorry for the hideously long wait; i promise to be better at this!
well… here goes!
I’m sorry to the people who followed this, i really really appreciate it!
I have every intention of getting back into this blog, its a really big passion of mine.
Im going travelling for a few months, but i will try my very hardest to get a few outfit pictures up and running when im there.
MASSIVE love to all my followers! seriously xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Finally my camera is back!!
So sorry to my followers… for someone who takes enjoyment in documenting her clothes, i am suprisingly useless with my camera!
Well this weekend i went to go see Aiden Grimshaw in Cardiff with my friend. Now i used to be one of those people who slagged off the x factor, but when that quiffed god made himself known on our tv screens; how could i refuse seeing him live?… (in case you were wondering, he was AMAZING live)
- Jumpsuit- £18 River Island Sale
- Leopard print bolero- £12 Primark
- Belt- £1 Primark
- Brogues- £12 Primark
Yet another Primark based outfit; my cheepness has become painfully evident. However, saying that, there really is no shame in buying budget clothes. In the words of style icon Anna Del Russo “it’s not about the individual pieces, but about the way you put them together”.
As i said in earlier postings, this jumpsuit is great cause you can dress it down as well as up; and here is a good example of dressing it up. What the best thing about this outfit was, for me, was that i needed some trousers to wear with the bolero; but i didnt have any that complimented the shape. This jumpsuit was great because it was the right style trouser leg, and also when it got too hott i could just take off the bolero.
Th way this outfit really came together, was by wearing the belt with it. Both pieces have strong shapes, so as not to drown out my figure i added a simple chain belt. If you, like me, are on the curvy side; then you too would like to be able to show off your shape a bit. However, unless you are blessed with being curvy and completely toned; then the body con dress really isn’t the best choice. For me, the best thing to do is wear a very tight waist belt that maybe clinches in a bit for comfort (don’t do a Dita Von Teese though!), but balance it out with a loose fitting top; this combination will give the desired affect of looking curvy, but also will trick people into believing that you are one of those lucky few wash board vixens.
Hint: If you, like me, are the physical embodiement of the phrase “a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips”, then the best loose fitting top to wear would be one that skims your hips when its clinched in rather than a long top. Longer tops will actually give you the opposite effect of what you want, as it will puff out at the hips but then unflatteringly skim over the rest of your lady lumps.
Happy Clinching, Lucy Jayne xx
I’m sorry there has been such a delay on my next post!
I left my camera in a friends flat on a rather hectic night out, and have to wait until saturday before i get it back.
I will wear my most outlandish outfit as an apology xx

These pictures make me feel like cher lloyd for some reason… no comment on whether that is a good or bad thing.
Sorry there was no update yesterday, work called me in in the morning for a shift; and i don’t think anyone would be particularly interested in seeing me in a black t-shirt and trousers. Today i went to go see ‘The Kings Speech’; hence the reason i am donning my specs. The costumes in this movie are beautiful; i was actually dumb-struck by how stunningly beautiful Helena Bonham-Carter is.
- Jumpsuit- £20 River Island Sale
- Blazer- £4.99 RSPCA Charity Shops
- Brogues- £12 Primark
- Brooches- various prices and shops
I don’t know whether i am the only one, but has anyone else started to get bored by the masses of lace that is on sale on the high streets? I think lace is one of the prettiest materials around, as there are so many different styles that you very rarely see the same pattern twice; however in my opinion, less, again, is more. This jumpsuit is great as it is quite demure and unfitted at the bottom, but the lace lingerie style top adds a daring quality to it. I had been hunting for a jumpsuit for a long time, and there are many good styles around. However, im a size 14, and there are very few jumpsuits out there that are aimed for curvier girls (most of the ones i tried on hugged very unflatteringly around the middle). If you have the same problem as me, then i would really recommend a tapered style leg on the jumpsuit. This style nips in at the waist in a very flattering way, but also skims over your tummy and slims the hips at the same time; giving you a very proportional shape. There are lots of this style on offer right now in shops such as New Look and Topshop.
As you may have already guessed, or will definatly come to notice, i have a bit of a mild obbsession with blazers. Blazers are great because they are a very comfortable way to look instantly smarter. Although i haven’t quite finished this project yet, you may notice the scattering of brooches on the lapel of my blazer..? The aim of this, is to emmulate the style of blazer that Effy wore in season four of skins:

I’m not a big fan of the story lines or characters in skins; but i can’t deny that they have style! The best way to get brooches like the ones on effies blazer is to root around in charity or vintage shops, or look around on ebay. Alot of the time on ebay, sellers will sell a selection of a certain piece in one bid; you find it alot with shoes and brooches as it is much easier sometimes than doing a seperate bid for each item. If you are able to find an auction like this, i would definatly jump at the chance, as chances are you would probably pay more if you bought each individual badge seperatly.
Off to go brooch hunting, love you all! Lucy Jayne x

Not much of an adventurous day, clothes wise; going to the doctors usually doesn’t spur me into a fashionable frenzy…
- Blazer- £1 Car Boot Sale
- Dress- £18 Primark
- Brogues- £12 Primark
- Glasses- £25 Specsavers
When in doubt, always go for a statement piece; thats my philosophy anyway. Today was a day filled with tedious errands and a lovely trip to the doctors; safe to say, i was not in the mood to dress up! I love my mum all the time, let me just say that; but i don’t think i’ve ever loved her more than when she came home from a boot sale with this gem of a blazer! its so statement, with its houndstooth pattern, that you can really just use this as a focal point. Monochrome, in my opinion, never looks better than with just a minimal amount of colour; that’s why the only colour i wore today was on my lips. If you’re going to wear a statement piece, like say a patterned cardigan or patterned blazer, then i would only wear one other item with colour. Other than that i would keep the rest in neutral dark tones, such as black or denim. To me, less is more.
Statement blazers are a perfect versatile item. You can easily dress them down with just some jeans and a wooly scarf; but you can also wear them out in the evenings too by maybe pairing them with some wetlook leggings or some killer heels. I’ve worn this blazer out on many occasions, and it never fails to make an impression.
I got these glasses just as the geek glass revolution came into full swing. I never really joined in on the fake glasses trend; i always thought that it looked a bit silly wearing lensless frames, and wearing cheap plastic lenses always made my eyes hurt. I have shocking eyesight, so these glasses are actually my prescription glasses. They’re from the mens section in Specsavers, and i think they are aimed mainly at old men! But if you are one of the lucky few who have perfect eyesight, then you can still buy these frames from a specsavers or any other glasses store (some might not like it, so be prepared to get your begging on!).
Have a statement day, Lucy Jayne x

Today I had to go visit my old job. My old managers are not best pleased with me, as i cancelled my shift for new years eve the day before; i thought i should make an effort and look nice when i went to go see them…
(I apologise for how static these photos are; i have to use my camera on self timer and there is only one place in my room where i can get my whole body in.)
- Dress- £2 Car Boot Sale
- Cardigan- £4 RSPCA Charity Shop
- Belt- Hand-me-down from my mum
- Shoes- £25 from New Look
This is another one of my cheapy outifts, with most of the pieces from either charity shops and boot sales. I have never worn this dress out before; i only remembered that i had it when i saw its hem poking out from my wardrobe. I bought this dress last summer, and for £2 i thought that i may as well get it. At first I was going to cut this dress to over the knee so that i could make it more versatile. I am so glad i never got round to doing that! Although both would look nice, i think that there is something very demure and elegant about a midi hemline.
Midi hemlines are definatly making a comeback this season, with topshop storming ahead of the other shops with some of these beautiful skirts:

I particularly like the last one, as it gives this demure look a slightly more edgy look. If i had that skirt, i would maybe pair it with a vintage t-shirt and some black ankle boots for or a laid back look; or maybe with a pussy-bow blouse and some brogues to smarten it up.
If these skirts are too pricey for your liking though, you could check out Oxfams online shop http://www.oxfam.org.uk/shop/ or visit some local charity shops. You also cannot fault ebay with things like this. Even if you find a skirt online thats maybe a bit too long, shortening a hem is one of the easiest things in sewing to do, and just that extra inch off can really make a difference.
Clothing for me is just as much art as it is something to wear, so if i see a dress, or especially shoes, that i like which i think may not necessarily look good; then i’ll buy them anyway as i always think they’ll be nice to look at.
You never know, a couple years from now when you’ve maybe changed your hair or grown a bit; you may too find the hemline sticking out of your wardrobe and realise that maybe your outfit isn’t destined to gather dust at the back of a wardrobe forever.
A million thanks, Lucy Jayne xx
